A LOVE STORY AS EXPLOSIVE AS VESUVIUS IN THE DECADENT CITY OF
POMPEII
DEANGELIS GROUP and VICTORY MEDIA GROUP are pleased to
announce their development deal with for the realisation of the
TV mini,
“Pompeii”
The two-part drama, which focuses
on the greatest love story in antiquity, between four young and
nubile Pompeiians, is being edited by Fabio Campus for production
in Autumn this year.
A story of eternal romance and inevitable
disaster, this mini is one of Titanic proportions, recounting,
on the grandest scale, and down to every last detail, the tale
of this once majestic city.
“
The Last Days of Pompeii” will
carry its audience on a wave of emotion and intrigue as we are
led deeper into the everyday events of this fascinating city,
right up to its untimely destruction, which killed 20,000 people
in a matter of hours. The Las Vegas of ancient Rome, Pompeii
was brimming with extravagance and wealth, and its citizens were
the subject of many a scandal, not unlike today’s society.
But Pompeii was a world where men and women had slaves, where
gladiators fought to the death to provide entertainment to the
bloodthirsty crowds, and where petty crime was punishable by
death. This was a world of decadence and sensuality, of lavish
banquets and feasting, where pleasure of the senses was fundamental
to the Roman’s existence, but so too was daily worship
to the Gods and even early Christianity. When Vesuvius erupted,
desecrating this utopian city, Pompeii and its citizens were
wiped out forever. Helpless against a succession of apocalyptic
events (a great earthquake, tidal waves, thunder and lightning),
the inferno continued for three days and then all was silent.Aside
from the central romantic theme, our characters will guide us
through this fascinating city as they move between Pompeii’s
theatres, temples and forums, its marketplaces, gardens and baths
and its many private villas with their central courtyards and
servants’ quarters.
